DRS, April 25: Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel keep DC alive, a lone ‘Warrier’ for GT & Rashid Khan magic

Welcome to our special segment DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top stories of IPL from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

It was raining boundaries on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi as DC locked horns with GT in a cracker of a contest. ‘Miracle Man’ Rishabh Pant, who is inching back to his prime form with each passing game, saw his team across the line with a match-winning knock. And to back the skipper, the ever-faithful Axar Patel stepped up as the duo tormented the GT bowlers, smashing them all over the park.

It must have been a heart in the mouth moment for DC towards the end of the game as Rashid Khan nearly snatched a win from their jaws. On a day where bowlers were shredded to pieces once again in IPL 2024, the Afghan star nearly pulled off what would have been a historic heist but failed to do so by a whisker. On that note, let’s take a look at some of the top eyeball grabbing stories from Wednesday.

Leather hunt ft. Pant-Axar

Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel joined hands to unleash a furious onslaught on the Gujarat Titans bowlers. Between the two, 22 boundaries were scored in the high-scoring game in Delhi. Pant stayed unbeaten on 88 at the end of the 1st innings while Axar Patel scored 66 runs. In the end, Pant’s knock made the difference for DC as it helped them pick up a much-needed victory and two points.

A lone ‘Warrier’

On a day when bowlers had no answers to the batters, Sandeep Warrier showed the rest of them how it’s done. The GT bowler stood out among his teammates as he rattled Delhi Capitals batters with a three-wicket haul. Warrier was as miserly as he could get during his spell, conceding only 15 runs in three overs.

The Stubbs impact!

Tristian Stubbs continues to grab eyeballs with his ability to finish for the side. The Proteas batter played a blazing 26-run knock off just seven deliveries, studded with three fours and two sixes. Stubbs boasted of a jaw-dropping strike rate of 371 in the game against the Titans.

All steam lost Nortje?

It looks like with each match, things are getting worse for the fiery Anrich Nortje. The pacer has been leaking runs so far in IPL 2024 and has failed to create an impact or make an impression with wickets. Nortje conceded 48 runs in his three-over spell while grabbing just one wicket. With DC having extended an olive branch to him so far, it remains to be seen if he will get the axe from the next game onwards.

A Rashid Khan magic

Rashid Khan nearly pulled off a heist at the Arun Jaitley stadium. The all-rounder played some crucial strokes to almost get his team across the line. The Titans lost the game by four runs, a sign that shows how close Rashid Khan and GT were to snatching a win.

DC still alive!

The Delhi Capitals are making a move. The Rishabh Pant-led team is now placed in the 6th spot on the points table after claiming a nail-biting 4-run victory over the Gujarat Titans. Pant led the side from the front, playing an incredible knock to bring his side back in contention to make the IPL 2024 Playoffs.
