DRS, April 10: Rise of Ashutosh Sharma, Shashank Singh and resurgence of Arshdeep Singh

Welcome to our special segment DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top stories of IPL from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life

It was indeed an entertaining Tuesday with PBKS narrowly missing out on what would have been a nail-biting victory. Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh proved to the world that experience and exposure can’t be the only factors based on which players can be trusted to finish games for the side.

So close, yet so far, the Kings lost the match by just 2 runs. And much to the relief of Pat Cummins, Jaidev Unadkat delivered when it mattered the most. It wasn’t through a wicket but it was simply bowling one legal delivery in the penultimate ball of the last over of the game.

Who won yesterday’s IPL match?

SRH won the game against PBKS by 2 runs in match number 23 of IPL 2024. Nitish Reddy, the star of the day with the bat for SRH, was adjudged Player of the Match.

Shashank-Ashutosh magic nearly drowns SRH

PBKS batters Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh nearly did the impossible as SRH managed to scrape a two-run victory. The duo gave it their all to chase down the 184-run total but missed out on it narrowly as Jaidev Unadkat held his nerves to see his team across the line.

Back to form, Arshdeep?

Arshdeep Singh, once regarded as India’s next leading pacer, showed glimpses of why he was in contention in the very first place. The PBKS star turned the clock back as he picked four wickets in the game against SRH. Does this come as a positive sign for Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup?

Bhuvi brilliance ft. Klaasen

The powerplay king is back! After four poor outings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has found his best. The pacer, who had just one wicket after bowling 16 overs (96 balls), has struck twice in the powerplay alone. He managed to get rid of Shikhar Dhawan, that too in a spectacular fashion that one definitely can’t miss!

Kohli’s coach gives it back to critics

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, didn’t hold back as he slammed critics for pointing out a flaw in the star’s century against RR. He has flogged critics, claiming that they have no knowledge about cricket. Rajkumar claimed that people are using Virat Kohli’s name to get engagement online.

Ageless Gabbar!

Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan took a phenomenal catch to get rid of Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Travis Head. Bowling first in the match, PBKS got an early breakthrough after missing out on a DRS call earlier in the innings. Dhawan completed a running catch, fetching Arshdeep Singh’s first wicket.

Mayank mania at T20 World Cup?

Mayank Yadav has impressed with his brilliant pace and accuracy in the current season of the IPL. With 6 wickets from the 3 games played, he holds the record for the fastest delivery in IPL with a speed of 156.7 kph, against RCB. This has very well put him ahead in the race for a spot in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Will he make it though?
