Double-headers good for IPL, bad for players! Axar Patel & Ishant Sharma struggle in Ahmedabad heat

The likes of Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma broke down in the scorching heat in Ahmedabad.

The double-headers at the Indian Premier League (IPL) come as a delight for fans. During the weekends, they hop into eight hours of non-stop cricketing action. However, is it ideal? Ask the players, especially the ones who put in hard yards in the scorching heat.

Exhausted Ishant Sharma

In Match 35 of IPL 2025 between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the harsh Ahmedabad sun took its toll. Temperatures soared past 40°C, and players were visibly struggling. GT’s veteran pacer Ishant Sharma, who is playing as an Impact Player, appeared to be in discomfort after bowling the 11th over.

He was immediately attended to by the medical team and had to step off the field. Images of him sitting exhausted are making rounds on the internet, though he later continued bowling.
