Former India Cricket Team captain Kapil Dev has requested everyone not to compare himself with Jasprit Bumrah. Kapil Dev argued that both the bowlers are from different generations and it would be extremely unwise to compare themselves. Recently in the just concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy, Jasprit Bumrah broke Kapil Dev’s record of 51 Test wickets in Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah now has 64 wickets against the Aussies in red-ball cricket. He emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the series and India’s only shining grace. The veteran speedster scalped 32 wickets from 9 innings to set a huge milestone.
Can’t compare one generation with another
“Please do not compare (me with Bumrah); you cannot compare one generation with another. The boys of today score 300 runs in a single day, which didn’t happen in our time. So, don’t compare,” Kapil Dev told the media.
Kapil Dev further argued that it is impossible to compare two different generations. He argued that in modern cricket, players score 300 runs in a single day which was not possible back in his time. And thus it would be extremely unwise to compare both the players.
Coming to Jasprit Bumrah, the ace speedster is now currently recovering from his back stress injury. He has been rested for the IND vs ENG T20I series and is also expected to be rested for the ODI series following next to become a 100% fit. The Men in Blue will be hopeful of their ace pacer making a comeback in the ICC Champions Trophy.
