Kolkata Knight Riders‘ latest prodigy, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, has announced himself on the IPL stage with a bang. The 18-year-old smashed a blistering half-century against the Delhi Capitals in just his first innings, showcasing his fearless batting style.

Debut Delight for Angkrish Raghuvanshi

Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s debut came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but he didn’t get a chance to bat. However, in his second outing at Visakhapatnam, he seized the opportunity, scoring a rapid 54 runs off just 27 balls. His knock, laced with five fours and three sixes, helped KKR post a mammoth total of 272 runs.

Early Promise and Formidable Partnership

Born in Delhi, Angkrish Raghuvanshi honed his skills in Mumbai under coaches Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi. He represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and is known for his all-round abilities, including his left-arm orthodox bowling.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s talent shone brightly during the 2022 U-19 World Cup, where he played a crucial role in India’s championship run under Yash Dhull’s captaincy.

He continued his impressive form in domestic cricket, scoring a phenomenal 765 runs in nine matches of the CK Nayudu Trophy. These performances caught the eye of KKR scouts, who secured him for a price of INR 20 lakh, reuniting him with his childhood coach, Abhishek Nayar.

In a post-match press conference, Angkrish Raghuvanshi attributed his success to a clear and uncomplicated approach. He highlighted the intensive training sessions under coach Nayar, which prepared him to face any challenge on the field.

“The way we have been practising for past few weeks that got me used to playing at a good level and thats how it happened. So it was pretty simple, the way I have been practising for past few weeks and past few years, my coach Abhishek Nayar, the way he had made me practice. I didn’t have to think really that much when I got there to play. I just backed my instincts and I trusted that.”

“What I did during practice was enough. The way he has made me practice, he made me face tough circumstances during practice. So nothing will feel that tough in a match.”

Angkrish Raghuvanshi expressed his deep gratitude towards his coach, Abhishek Nayar in the post-match press conference.

“He has helped me in every way. The way I think about the game during the game. The way I work towards the game. The things I eat, the way I train. He is basically my guru and everything. That’s my relationship with him. I have learned a lot from him.”
