Did KL Rahul open up about alleged public-spat with LSG owner? Says “this was the right step”

In a span of three years with the LSG, KL Rahul led the team in 37 matches and won 20 of those matches. IN IPL Auction 2025 he was bagged by DC.

It is just easy to watch the IPL auction and believe, that is all too glorious for the players bagging contracts of crores. But then what we don’t realise is, these auctions can make or break the careers of these cricketers. It is not easy to switch teams, and form a base in the new one. This time around, India star KL Rahul has had to made the switch, after he was not retained by LSG, and was eventually bagged was DC.

KL Rahul opened up on the entire process of team building during the IPL Auction, and the pressure the management and the players go through. Speaking exclusively in Superstars on JioHotstar, KL Rahul commented on being part of the TATA IPL 2025 auction and joining Delhi Capitals. “The auction was a nerve-wracking experience. As a player, not knowing which team you will end up with is never easy.

“Over the years, I’ve seen how unpredictable auctions can be—there’s no fixed pattern to how things unfold. Having been a captain for the last three seasons, I have been actively involved in the process of building a team. I understand the kind of pressure franchises face when assembling a squad. But from a player’s perspective, it’s even tougher because your career is at stake.

Not Retained by LSG Due to Rift with Sanjiv Goenka?

Despite being very seasoned, having played in the IPL for over a decade now, even Rahul was nervous, as to what team he would go to. Now, here at DC, in his first season, he would face newer challenges. Having said that, there was a lot that was made out of his exit from LSG. Of course, everyone remembers the public spat with owner Sanjiv Goenka, after a tough loss to SRH. It seems it all did not end well for him.

“The auction can shape a player’s future or present unexpected challenges. I was definitely nervous, even a little anxious. But at the same time, I knew this was the right step for my career. There was excitement too, though it didn’t last very long because reality sets in quickly.

Rahul Happy to be at DC

“I’m really happy to be joining Delhi Capitals. Parth Jindal, the team’s owner, is a close friend, and we have spent a lot of time outside of cricket discussing various things. I know how passionate he is about the sport, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this team. We have a strong squad, and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”
