Indian youngster wicket keeper Dhruv Jurel hogged the limelight after his stunning 90 run knock on Day 3 of the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test. His resilience with the bat proved crucial as India helped reduce the deficit.
Sunil Gavaskar was all praises for the 23-year old. He went on to claim that Jurel is like MS Dhoni. “Watching the presence of mind of Dhruv Jurel makes me think he’s the next MS Dhoni in the making,” said Sunil Gavaskar during the commentary.
“Obviously it’s a good feeling to hear a legend like Sunil Gavaskar talk about me. The mood was great, there were no specific instructions… just to go out and play. Watch the ball and play. Just that the long I play the better it is,” Dhruv Jurel said after Day 3.
Jurel was ultimately dismissed on 90, narrowly missing his maiden Test ton. But owing to his great batting, India struck back with the ball. England were bowled out on Day 3 as the hosts now need just 152 runs to win the Test and seal the series.
“I don’t regret a bit on missing the hundred. It’s my debut Test series, I’m just desperate to lift this trophy in my hands. It’s always a childhood dream to play for India in Tests,” Jurel concluded.
