Designated finisher’s spot set, Rinku Singh ready for ODI debut in IND vs SA series

KL Rahul, who will be leading the Men in Blue in IND vs SA ODIs, confirmed Rinku's ODI debut in the pre-match conference on Saturday.

India’s latest cricketing sensation Rinku Singh, who has cemented finisher’s spot in T20Is, is set to take the same role in IND vs SA ODIs. After an impressive T20I series against the Proteas, the 25-year-old is set for his ODI debut in Johannesburg on Sunday, December 17.

KL Rahul, who will be leading the Men in Blue in IND vs SA ODIs, confirmed that Rinku will get a chance in the 3-match ODI series.

“Yes, he will get the opportunity in ODIs as well”, KL Rahul said in the pre-match conference.

When asked if Rinku will be a good fit at number 6 in 50-over format, the Indian skipper said, “Yeah, I think obviously. He has shown what a really good player he is. We all knew that, watching him in the IPL, that he is very skilled. But what’s been really good to see is the temperament, the game, awareness, and the calmness that he shown under under pressure”

Notably, Rinku has made a stellar start to his international career. He has played 12 T20Is so far, scoring 262 runs at a stunning average of 65.50.
