DDCA Election: Kirti Azad alleges Rohan Jaitley spent just Rs 7 of 140 crore granted by BCCI

DDCA Election: Kirti Azad alleges Rohan Jaitley spent just Rs 7 of 140 crore granted by BCCI

Rohan Jaitley has been the DDCA President since October, 2020.

1983 World Cup winner Kirti Azad has once again alleged that the current Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley is corrupt. Azad claims the DDCA hasn’t used the Rs 140 crore funds granted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on cricket. He claims only 5% of the total amount (Rs 7 crore) was spent on the sport.

Kirti Azad alleges misappropriation of BCCI funds by DDCA President Rohan Jaitley

As per DDCA’s balance sheet, they received Rs 70 crore in the form of a grant or subsidy from the BCCI in the last year. They also earned around Rs 67 crore from multiple sources, which include match fees, ticket sales, and money from IPL. This amount equals what Azad said it was, and according to him, they spend just Rs 7 crore of it on cricket-related expenditure.

“The DDCA gets Rs 140 crore from BCCI every year, approximately Rs 12 crore every month and Rs 40 lakh everyday. The grants that the association has been receiving have been mismanaged. There is no proper auditing of the books of accounts. Only Rs 7 crore was spent on cricket. Where is the rest of the money going?” Azad asked at an event on Tuesday.

DDCA Elections

These allegations come just three days before the DDCA elections, which will be held from December 13 to 15, and the result will be announced on December 16. 3746 members will cast their votes as Azad looks to challenge Jaitley for the President post and had even opened the challenge to the current DDCA supremo for a debate on December 10, but Jaitley didn’t turn up.

“A change is constant. If there is no change, there is nothing in life. I am confident. There is an undercurrent. People want change, and that change is going to come. Rohan is like my son. I wanted him to come and have a healthy debate on various issues plaguing the DDCA. The members of DDCA have long been denied their rightful status under the sun. All other clubs in Delhi have proper facilities, but DDCA doesn’t, and that is why members don’t want to go there,” said the former cricketer.
