After scoring 61 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous game, Warner continued his form as he and Prithvi Shaw once again got the team off to a blazing start. Warner started his attack right from the word go as he dispatched the very first delivery he faced in the innings for a six.
He continued to find boundaries at will as the opening partnership reached 50 runs, with Warner himself scoring 32 runs off 15 deliveries. Soon Prithvi Shaw walked back to the pavilion and along with Mitchell Marsh, the Australian opener continued to build the innings.
In the 44-run partnership between him and Marsh, Warner scored 34 runs by taking the role of the aggressor. He was however dismissed lbw as he attempted a reverse sweep against Wanindu Hasarange but missed the delivery completely that hit his pads. He walked back to the pavilion after scoring 66 off 38 balls. The knock included four fours and five sixes.
