DC put rumours of “alleged tiff” with Rishabh Pant to rest, use RTM for ex-skipper at IPL auction

IPL Auction 2025: DC gave a strong message on Sunday, that they wanted their ex-skipper Rishabh Pant, back in the team.

Ever since Rishabh Pant was not retained by DC at the IPL Retentions on October 31, it was widely believed that there was something wrong between the two. In fact, Rishabh had raised eyebrows by talking about the same. On November 19, he tweeted, “My retention wasn’t about the money for sure that I can say.”

No Rift Between Rishabh Pant and DC

With that it even became clearer that the rift was there for sure. But then what transpired at the IPL 2025 Auction, made fans believe otherwise. It so happened, that he was bagged by LSG for 20.75 Cr, and then was RTMed by DC. Even though eventually the southpaw went to LSG for 27 Cr, making him the most expensive in IPL history, that just showed, that all was well between Rishabh Pant and the DC management.

There was a certain intent by Parth Jindal at the IPL Auction table, who just wanted Rishabh Pant on their side. It must also be mentioned that the 26-year-old had been associated with the franchise since 2016, his first season. IN 111 matches, he went on to score a massive 3284 runs at an average of 35.31. His strike rate is a brilliant 148.93.

IPL Auction 2025

Coming to the IPL Auction 2025, Shreyas Iyer emerged as the second most expensive player, as he was bagged by 26.75 Cr by PBKS. Yuzvendra Chahal went to SRH for a massive 18 Cr, and Arshdeep Singh went for the same amount to PBKS. Meanwhile, DC hit the jackpot when they bagged Aussie Mitchell Starc for 11.75 Cr only.
