This victory marked LSG’s doing a double over CSK, having defeated them earlier in the season as well.

CSK, after being put to bat first, got off to a strong start with Ruturaj Gaikwad smashing his maiden IPL century as a CSK captain. He batted out for the hosts and found an able ally in Shivam Dube, who muscled LSG bowlers for 66 in just 27 balls.
