CSK batted first in both their games and failed to keep the opposition at bay meaning new captain Ravindra Jadeja could be tempted to strengthen his bowling ahead of the Punjab Kings clash. Mukesh Choudhary was handed a debut last game but the youngster struggled under pressure.

However, will the pace trio of Chris Jordan, Adam Milne and Deepak Chahar all nursing injuries, Jadeja is unlikely to be able to field a pacer to replace Chowdhury. CSK could find themselves will two available options – playing Chowdhury again or going with a third spin option in Maheesh Theekshana. Dwaine Pretorius did well on his debut and should be retained in the side, and in him, Dwayne Bravo and Tushar Deshpande, CSK already has two quality pace options.

On the batting front, the changes after the first game worked well and Ravindra Jadeja will be keen to stick to the same combination. Robin Uthappa’s promotion to open the batting saw him score a scintillating half-century, while Shivam Dube also chipped in with a fine hand of 49. MS Dhoni has rolled back the years to be back at his aggressive best, following his 50 in the first game with an unbeaten 16-run cameo in the second, which came off just six balls.

The make of the lineup is as such that CSK have batting until No.9, with Dwayne Bravo being shunned down the order to add some batting depth. Hence, bowling is what CSK should focus on.
