Apart from Smith and Warner, former Australia captain Michael Clarke and current stand-in-captain Matthew Wade also paid heartfelt tribute to Hughes.

It was nine years ago when the whole cricketing world came to a standstill when Hughes breathed his last on November 27, 2014. The southpaw was hit by a Sean Abbott bouncer on the neck. As soon as the ball hit Hughes’s neck, he fell unconscious, before leaving the cricketing world at the young age of 25.
