Sunrisers Hyderabad have once again decided to reshuffle their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2024. Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori will replace Brian Lara after just one season. Lara expressed unhappiness over the full-time role. And with another disastrous season, SRH have let go of Lara.
After an absence of five years, Daniel Vettori will return to IPL 2024. Vettori coached Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) between 2014-2018. His stint was relatively successful although without any title. Vettori led RCB to the 2015 playoffs and final in 2016. He is currently the assistant coach of Australia men’s team and is likely to be in the role until World Cup 2023. Vettori is also the head coach of the Birmingham Phoenix men’s team in The Hundred.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Head Coaches:
- Tom Moody: 2013-19
- Trevor Bayliss: 2020-2021
- Tom Moody: 2022
- Brian Lara: 2023
As for Brian Lara, he replaced Tom Moody last season to mark a massive overhaul of the coaching staff. However, the reshuffle is still continuing. In his only season as the head coach, Sunrisers Hyderabad finished last with ten losses and only four wins.
However, it is still unknown whether Dale Steyn and Muttiah Muralitharan will continue with the side in IPL 2024. After two disappointing seasons, Sunrisers Hyderabad marked a new beginning with a star-studded coaching staff and Aiden Markram as the new captain.
But with top guns failing to fire and too many reshuffles in the team did not go down well. Brian Lara himself struggled with so much travelling.
“First of all, it’s my first year. Not getting to grips with the emotions of going through an IPL season. Especially when we were back to travelling to different venues and finding out different surfaces. Our last year was based on 3-4 venues, so there is a huge difference in that,” Brian Lara explained last season.
