George Bailey, who played under Dhoni’s captaincy at Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants, said that there was an open-door policy for players. The former Australia captain also revealed that Dhoni had hookah or sheesha set up in his room.
Bailey said, “He likes smoking a bit of the sheesha or the hookah. So, he quite often would set that up in his room, and it was very much open door policy. You would go in and quite often find a lot of younger players there. For India or lot of other cricket teams, it can be hierarchical, but he certainly broke that down.”
“You just find yourself in his room late at night chatting inevitably about the game or about different facets of the game or about different people and with different people it’s a great way to break down barriers,” said Bailey.

MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of cricket. He is the only captain to win all three ICC trophies. Dhoni also has a superb record in IPL and he has captained CSK to four titles. Nevertheless in IPL 2023 as well Dhoni will lead Chennai Super Kings.
Although Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020, he continues to lead CSK in the IPL. Now he is nearing the end of his IPL career, the upcoming season will be his last. Fans are eagerly waiting for the start of the tournament, to see MS Dhoni back in action. On March 31, CSK will face the defending champions Gujarat Titans in their opening match.
