GT head coach Gary Kirsten said on Star Sports that the star player has been taken off the ground and is undergoing treatment.
“It doesn’t look good. But the physios are taking a look. Hopefully, he will be okay,” GT head coach Gary Kirsten said on Star Sports.
Sai Sudarshan was brought in as the substitute fielder as Williamson limped off. He was taken off the field on the shoulder of two GT physios. Later on, he was introduced as the Impact Player with Williamson out of the action.
Williamson was shown the door after a poor season with Sunrisers Hyderabad. While he went unsold in the first round, GT snapped him up at base price of Rs 2 Cr. However, he hasn’t had the debut he expected. IPL 2023 has already been plagued with injuries. GT will hope that his injury isn’t a serious one. The Kiwi captain has had knee trouble in the past.
