After the Indian Premier League & T20 World Cup, now the Asia Cup cricket in September is also in trouble. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) met via video-conference on Monday to decide the way forward on the T20 Asia Cup hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board. But the meeting ended inconclusively as the BCCI showed their reluctance to commit to the Asia Cup in September resulting in no consensus could be reached on the way forward.

The Executive Board of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chaired by ACC President Mr. Nazmul Hassan discussed possible schedule and venue options for the upcoming Asia Cup 2020. But it is reliably learnt that the BCCI represented by its president Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah opposed the idea of Asia Cup schedule in September.

The tournament had been originally scheduled for Pakistan in September but India had earlier refused to take part unless it was held on neutral territory. But with Covid19 pandemic taking its toll on the world, the decision on the way forward has been postponed.
“In light of the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, possible venue options for the Asia Cup 2020 were discussed and it was decided to take the final decision in due course”.
