Ricky Ponting

The Ex-Australian captain is the most sought after coach in the world. He currently serves Delhi Capitals in IPL. Cricket Australia could offer him the top post after he led Australia to two World Cup victories and third as a payer.

“Going back to Justin Langer, I can’t see how he cannot be re-signed, simple as that,” Ponting said on Channel 7.

“If he wants to go on in this role, there’s a bit speculation about whether they’ll split the roles and be a Test Match coach and a white ball coach. On performance, there is absolutely no way that Justin Langer cannot continue on as head coach of this Australian cricket team,” he added.

Jason Gillespie

Australia great Jason Gillespie has previously worked as a coach but has yet to take on an international role. The former pacer returned to Cricket Australia after a successful stint at Yorkshire. Unfortunately, he has failed to prove his worth with Sheffield Shield cricket. Gillespie, 46, took 259 wickets and led Strikers to BBL glory in 2018.

Trevor Bayliss

Trevor Bayliss can take up the job after he resigned from SRH in IPL after last season. He has led England to 2019 World Cup glory, won Ashes 2015 & coached Sri Lanka. He also won titles with New South Wales and Sydney Thunder. He is well recognized by key members of the squad like skipper Pat Cummins and David Warner.

Gary Kirsten

South Africa’s World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten is also a fierce competitor for the top post. He is also in contention for England’s vacant coaching post, after Chris Silverwood was sacked after 0-4 humiliation in Ashes. The 54-year-old from South Africa started his professional coaching career with the Indian cricket team and guided them World Cup triumph in 2011.

David Saker

David Saker, former right-arm pacer, has a good association in Australia & England. He quit as Australia bowling coach in 2019 but still have a strong reputation. He has also served as an assistant coach with England. Saker led Victoria to the Sheffield Shield trophy after which he was promoted to Darren Lehmann’s staff.
