“Completely wrong”: BCCI VP rubbishes reports of rift between Rohit Sharma, Gambhir & Agarkar

Speaking on the sidelines of Kho Kho World Cup, Shukla categorically stated that there was no rift between Rohit Sharma, Ajit Agarkar and Gambhir

BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla rubbished reports of an alleged rift between India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. The official was forced to clear the air after reports claimed that the trio were not on the same page, especially after India’s 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The three participated in a review meeting on Saturday to review the team’s performance in Down Under and to chalk the path for the future.

“No rift” between Rohit, Gambhir & Agarkar

Speaking on the sidelines of Kho Kho World Cup, Shukla categorically stated that there was no rift between coach, chairman of selectors and the captain. The BCCI VP said that it was a completely wrong statement to make in terms of alleging a rift between the team management and Sharma. He threw his weight behind seniors Rohit and Virat Kohli and pointed out that being out of form happens in sports.

Completely wrong statement to be made. No rift between coach, selection chairman, and captain,” said Shulka.

Earlier, various reports had claimed that Rohit Sharma and Gambhir weren’t on the same page when it came to team selection. Another set of reports alleged that Gambhir did not engage with the selectors when it came to picking the team. However, the differences seem to be ironed out after the review meeting held on January 11.

The BCCI is expected to give no knee jerk reaction to the loss in Australia. Instead, Gautam Gambhir and his support staff are set to continue in their roles. Seniors Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be a part of ICC Champions Trophy squad, with the former set to lead the team.
