Cheteshwar Pujara knocks on Team India doors again with gritty knock in Ranji Trophy quarters

Although his 170-ball 46 runs came in a losing cause against Tamil Nadu in Ranji quarters, he showed he is the best man in crisis for India.

Even though Team Saurashtra’s campaign might have ended in the Ranji Trophy 2024, after an innings and 33-run defeat against Tamil Nadu, but India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, with his gritty 46 in the second innings of match, has shown, why he is a must-have in the national side.

When all the other batsmen were falling like pack of cards in the match, where Saurashtra were bundled out for 122, Pujara troubled the TN bowlers for 170 deliveries, sucking the energy out of them. Such was his dominance in the innings, that the next best batsman from the team, Kevin Jivrajani could only score 27 runs.

Pujara Record in Ranji Trophy 2024

Now, Pujara ends his Ranji campaign of this season with 829 runs in eight matches, scoring at an average of 69.08. He had a highest-score of 243 this year, scoring three centuries in all. Team India, who is playing the Test series against England, might need Pujara’s services for the upcoming final match at Dharamshala, that begins on March 7.
