Akhil Akkineni was the star of the match smashing half centuries in both the innings and guide the team to victory. Akkineni during an interview with Pinkvilla had once spoken about being fascinated by Virat Kohli. He further went onto say that he would like to portray Kohli on the big screen. He said, “Virat Kohli. I think that would be a journey of passion, fire and what dedication he has. In fact, he has influenced me in a lot of ways, the way he carries himself, and dedicates himself to his craft and sport. It’s incredible to see someone so dedicated, and the passion to be number one. So maybe a story on him someday would be great,”.

The south star is extremely fond of cricket and has taken training in England. Back in 2018, Akhil Akkineni had shared an image of him meeting Virat Kohli. The actor had met the cricketers while taking a stroll in the office of their production house, Annapurna Studios. Kohli had come down to shoot a commercial. Taking to Instagram, Akhil had shared a photo and wrote, “When you stroll through Annapurna studios and this hero is hanging around. ! You are THE CHAMPION! Absolute pleasure captain @virat.kohli #kingkohli (sic)”

Kerala Strikers after winning the toss asked Telugu Warriors to bat first. The decision backfired with Warriors skipper Akhil smashing the opposition bowlers all over the ground . Akkineni reached the first 50 runs in just 20 balls, after which he added more 40 runs in just 8 balls. He raced to 90 off 28 deliveries, before geting out to catch from Vijay Yesudas at the cover. The Warriors posted 154 in their 10 overs. Akhil and Prince also stitched a 100-run stand with Prince scoring 45 off 23 balls, before picking up 4 wickets.
In their first batting innings, the Kerala Strikers could only muster up 98 runs at the loss of 5 wickets with Rajeev Pillai and Siddharth Menon ending as the top scorers with 38 and 27 runs, respectively. Telugu Warriors scored 119 runs in their second quota of 10 overs with Akhil, once again, scoring a half-century and putting his team in a rather comfortable position. And in response, needing 170 runs to win the game, the Kerala Strikers could only manage 105 for 6 to hand a 64-run victory to the Warriors
