CCL 2023: Akhil Akkineni’s stunning knock for Telugu Warriors against Kerala Strikers helped his team win their opening match of the Celebrity Cricket League on Sunday. Telugu Warriors began campaign with a victory
After being asked to bat first by Kerala Strikers, Telugu Warriors skipper Akhil went berserk against opposition bowlers. Akkineni reached his 50 in just 20 balls, before adding 40 runs in just 8 balls. The right-handed batsman raced to 90 off 28 deliveries, before holding out to Vijay Yesudas at the cover. The Warriors posted 154 in their 10 overs. Akhil and Prince also brought up a 100-run stand. Princ managed 45 off 23 balls, before picking up 4 wickets.
In their first batting innings, the Kerala Strikers could only muster up 98 runs at the last quota of 10 overs with Akhil, once again, scoring a half-century and putting his team in a rather comfortable position. And in response, needing 170 runs to s of 5 wickets with Rajeev Pillai and Siddharth Menon ended as the top scorers with 38 and 27 runs, respectively. Telugu Warriors scored 119 runs in their second game, the Kerala Strikers could only manage 105 for 6 to hand a 64-run victory to the Warriors.
