The ball gripped just a touch and was miscued by Gill. CSK thought they got their man as Rayadu ran in and took the catch. However, it was claimed a dead ball as the ball hit the spider cam cable and Gill was given another lifeline.

Rayadu who was under the ball and Dhoni were fuming because of this decision as Gill completed his 50 before heading back to the pavilion trying to play a scoop. Gill completely missed the shot and Chahar claims an LBW. CSK gave KKR a target of 193.

IPL Spider Cam controversy
A similar incident has happened before when KKR played RR. The event occurred in the last delivery of the 18th over of KKR’s quest. Unadkat picked a short delivery from Kuldeep Yadav in the air, trying to clear the leg-side field. However, the trajectory of the shot originally made it seem that it would go the distance, but it lost steam and settled into the hands of Nagarkoti at deep mid-wicket.
“We think it might have hit the cable of the spidercam,” said Simon Doull on air, “which renders it a dead ball.” The judgment was negotiated with the television umpire, but replays were not able to prove a clear difference.
Commentators Danny Morrison and Sunil Gavaskar, along with Doull, said it was difficult to reach a decision because the white ball had hit the thin fiber attached to the camera.
