Bizarre! Eden Carson Ends up Bowling 11 Overs in New Zealand vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI

Eden Carson bowled a total of 11 overs and gave away just 41 runs before scalping two crucial wickets for her side.

New Zealand pacer Eden Carson achieved a bizarre record against Sri Lanka Women in the second ODI played on Saturday (June 30). The Kiwi spinner much to the surprise of everyone bowled 11 overs. Even the on-field umpires and the match officials did not notice the error as Carson went on to give 41 runs in her 11 overs and scalped two wickets.

Earlier in the game, the New Zealand Women won the toss and chose to bat first. They set a massive target of 330 runs in their allotted 50 overs. The highlight of their innings was a tremendous partnership of 229 runs for the 3rd wicket between Amelia Kerr and captain Sophie Devine. Kerr scored 108 runs, while Devine scored a remarkable 137 runs.

From the bowling perspective, Oshadi Ranasinghe was the standout performer for the Sri Lanka Women’s team as she took 3 wickets. Udeshika Prabodhani also contributed with a couple of wickets.

In their pursuit of the massive target of 330 runs, the Sri Lanka Women’s team endured a disastrous start, consistently losing wickets at regular intervals. They struggled to find their rhythm throughout the chase and never appeared comfortable. However, amidst the struggles, Kavisha Dilhari showed remarkable resilience and played a splendid inning of 84 runsThe remaining batters failed to contribute significantly, with none of them even reaching a total of 20 runs.

Among the New Zealand Women’s bowlers, Lea Tahuhu emerged as the standout performer, taking 4 wickets. As mentioned above, Carson also made valuable contributions with two wickets.
