“Biggest learning curve” Faf du Plessis recalls ‘lucky’ experience with MS Dhoni ahead of SA20

MS Dhoni, who led Chennai Super Kings to their 5th crown in IPL 2023, will be back in IPL 2024.

Veteran Faf du Plessis was an integral part of the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in IPL The right-handed batter represented the Yellow Army for almost a decade before he went to RCB. Speaking to the press ahead of the second edition of the SA20, Joburg Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis recalled his valuable experience of spending time with MS Dhoni in CSK.

Firstly, it was great to be part of that dressing room as a young guy. Probably my biggest learning curve was being fortunate enough to be there under Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni really at the start of my initial journey. Just to see the big guns do things, it was great to learn from them. During my first season, I was just sitting and asking questions and observing them,” Faf du Plessis said.

The former CSK opener also spoke about learning from Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming. “MS is Captain Cool, as they call him. He is always very calm under pressure. So it’s always important that under pressure or when the stakes are a bit more higher, you remain relaxed and it makes a big difference to the bowling attack, especially. Very lucky to have played under him,” he added.
