Big controversy: AB de Villiers has his say on Mumbai Indians captaincy change for IPL 2024

IPL 2024: Ahead of start of IPL 2024, AB de Villiers opens on Mumbai Indians captaincy change from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya

Just ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Mumbai Indians have made a huge change. They brought back Hardik Pandya and appointed him as the captain of the team. Former RCB star AB de Villiers has addressed the big controversy in the MI captaincy change.

Mumbai Indians hogged the limelight after their controversial captaincy change. The fans too were disappointed upon seeing Rohit Sharma being dropped as the leader for the Mumbai outfits. AB de Villiers claimed that MI’s star studded squad needs to fire on all cylinders for the team to play well.

“Incredibly successful team of the IPL. They have won five titles. Big controversy over the last few months was that Hardik Pandya coming in as new captain in place of Rohit Sharma. They seem to be happy though. They seemed to have moved on. It’s great to have Hardik Pandya in blue at his home team Mumbai Indians. They will be starting against Gujarat Titans, how ironic is that,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

The Proteas great emphasised that Mumbai Indians might have move on from the decision. However, it will be interesting to see how the team fairs in their opening game. Mumbai Indians begin their IPL 2024 encounter as they face Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad.
