  • MS Dhoni: The most successful skipper in IPL history was bought by the Super Kings in 2008 for INR 6 crore. That amount seemed huge at the time, but the wicketkeeper has paid the franchise back handsomely. Dhoni led them to 5 titles (joint most) and the most match wins (113) in IPL history.

  • Suresh Raina: The highest run-getter for CSK was snatched for just INR 2.6 crore in 2008. The Southpaw went on to play 200 matches for the franchise, scoring 5529 runs and 40 fifty or plus scores. Raina was part of CSK’s 4 title runs (2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021).
  • Faf du Plessis: A part of CSK for nine seasons, the former South African skipper was picked for just INR 55.20 lakh in 2011. Faf went on to become the 3rd highest run scorer, scoring nearly 3000 runs in 100 matches for the franchise. Faf was also part of three title runs with CSK (2011, 2018, and 2021).
