Best IPL wicketkeepers Playing XI

As over the years IPL has seen some impressive wicketkeepers, let's take a look at the best IPL wicketkeeper-playing XI of all time.

Mostly in the IPL, players who keep wickets also tend to be big hitters, and we’ve seen this in the past with players like Adam Gilchrist and Brendon McCullum, who had a pretty impressive stint as wicketkeepers in the IPL over the years. Many wicketkeepers have come and become valuable assets for their respective teams. Some of them have also taken on leadership roles and performed impressively well.

If we had the chance to make a playing XI of the top 11 wicketkeepers in IPL history, who would make the cut? Although it’s unfair to leave out some impressive names, let’s take a look at the names that are on the list and see who makes it to the Best IPL Wicketkeepers Playing XI.

It’s difficult to pull out Australian legend Adam Gilchrist, who helped the now-defunct Deccan Chargers win an IPL title. Overall, in his IPL career, he contributed really well, both with the bat and gloves. Apart from the Deccan Chargers, he also played for Punjab Kings, where he impressed with his skills. As a wicketkeeper, he took 51 catches and made 16 stumpings.

Some impressive names are also in this list include former CSK skipper MS Dhoni, who has played 264 matches in the IPL so far. He has 42 stumpings and 152 catches to his name. A proven match-winner, Dinesh Karthik also finds his place on the list. What makes Karthik’s role special is his flexibility in batting positions. Towards the end of his career with RCB, he batted lower down the order and still finished games impressively.

Also on the list are Rishabh Pant, who is set to play for LSG in IPL 2025 after serving as captain for Delhi Capitals, and Sanju Samson, the leader of Rajasthan Royals, who has constantly performed well. However, there are chances that he may give up the wicketkeeper role in IPL 2025 and hand over the gloves to Dhruv Jurel. But, his achievements as a wicketkeeper-batter make him a valuable spot in this playing XI.
