Speaking to Reuters news agency, Jay Shah said the interests of the chief of cricket bodies across the globe should be on expanding the game of cricket and it is more important than “short-term commercial initiatives”.

What is 4 Nation T20 Series Proposal? Ramiz in January had said, ‘he would propose the 4-national tournament to the ICC and the profits from such a tournament can be shared on percentage basis with all ICC members’
Notably, India and Pakistan have not been playing bilateral cricket since 2012-13 season due to strain in ties between the two neighbouring countries. On the back of this status, Ramiz had proposed 4 nation SUPER-SERIES event between India, Pakistan, England & Australian T20 teams.
But the BCCI Secetary has completely shot down the proposal.
“With the IPL window expanding and the ICC (global) events every year in the cycle, our primary responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, with emphasis on test cricket,” Jay Shah said.
“I am also looking forward to seeing cricket at the Olympics, as that will help the game grow. Expansion of the sport is a challenge that our game faces and we must prioritise it over any short-term commercial initiative.”
‘BCCI COMMITTED TOWARDS MAKING WOMEN’S IPL HAPPEN’
Meanwhile, Jay Shah also said that the BCCI is not just thinking about a full-fledged women’s IPL but taking all necessary steps towards getting the tournament underway soon.
Shah’s comments come after BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said 2023 would be the ideal time to kick off the women’s IPL.
The Women’s T20 Challenge is also set to be back during this year’s IPL after the 3-team tournament was canceled due to Covid-19 last year.
“I want to assure you that BCCI is not only sincere but is taking all necessary steps to start a full-fledged women’s league similar to the IPL soon,” Shah said.
“The huge interest among fans and players towards the women’s T20 Challenge is an encouraging sign and we are all committed to making it happen.”
