BCCI provides big update on KL Rahul ahead of IND vs ENG 5th Test

India take on England in the final Test in Dharamsala without KL Rahul. But it will be a dead rubber with India already sealing the series 3-1.

India squad for IND vs ENG 5th Test is out. And as reported by InsideSport earlier, KL Rahul is ruled out of the Dharamsala Test with a quadriceps injury. He is currently in London to consult a specialist after missing the last three Tests of the series.

“KL Rahul, whose participation in the final Test was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue,” BCCI said in a statement.

KL Rahul Injury mystery

After scoring 86 and 22 in the 1st Test in Hyderabad, KL Rahul complained of pain in quadriceps for which he had to undergo surgery.

However, initially, he was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as a precaution. While the BCCI said he was 90% fit, it did not turn out to be.

Although scans at the NCA didn’t reveal major concerns, he experienced stiffness in his right leg. That ruled him out of Vizag and Ranchi Tests. And now, he will miss the fifth and final IND vs ENG Test.

With KL Rahul contesting for a spot in T20 World Cup 2024, BCCI does not want to take any risk. Hence, he has flown to London to consult the doctor who operated on him last year.

It is likely that he will be fit for IPL 2024. But it remains a question mark still.
