Ahead of Australia Strikers vs Sydney Thunders on Friday, 1 player tested COVID positive. In a more threatening development, record 12 Melbourne Stars players & support staff tested COVID with another January 2 game between Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers all set to be postponed.

Australia Strikers vs Sydney Thunders 

Cricket Australia are currently awaiting PCR results, which is likely to come by this Afternoon. Even if players Test negative, there is doubt about close contacts permission in the game by the government. Luckily, the Strikers are not impacted.

Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers

More than a dozen Melbourne Stars officials and players have tested positive. As per Fox Cricket, the virus has impacted the support staff significantly more than players with at least one player testing positive.

Cricket Australia and Big Bash clubs will take a call on the next course of action.

BBL 2021: PRS vs MLS match postponed: On Thursday, another casualty was BBL 2021 match between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars. Fox Sport reported that a member of the Melbourne Stars coaching staff tested positive for the virus, forcing the entire team into isolation. The match will now be played at a later date while Stars’ other games could also be postponed.
