Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani has taken a jibe at CSK coach Stephen Fleming ahead of IPL 2025. The New Zealand cricketer has been CSK’s coach since 2009 while Badani was named DC coach before IPL 2025. The former Indian player has now claimed that Fleming hardly tasted success anywhere apart from the IPL.
DC coach takes dig at CSK counterpart ft. Dhoni
In an interview, DC head coach Hemang Badani claimed that Fleming had not won any titles barring in the IPL. He pointed out that the New Zealand cricketer had managed to lead CSK to five titles only because of MS Dhoni.
“Fleming hasn’t won any titles other than the IPL. In the IPL, he has won the titles because of MS Dhoni,” DC coach Badani stated.
He further attributed CSK’s success to Dhoni alone, noting that Fleming served as coach for other teams in various T20 leagues who did not lift the trophy. He claimed that only Indians should be appointed as coaches for IPL sides in order for the league to grow further.
“I will say, Fleming is not the reason why CSK won. Dhoni is in that team. It is because of him that CSK won. If Fleming was alone, Chennai would definitely not have won these trophies. Fleming is not only a coach in the IPL but also in league games in countries like America and South Africa,” Badani claimed.
Interestingly, only 4 out of 10 teams currently have Indians as head coaches.

DC are currently the table-toppers in IPL 2025, having won 3 out of 3 matches so far. They have gotten off to a strong start under the leadership of Badani and Axar Patel.
Meanwhile, CSK have lost 4 out of 5 matches played so far. Clearly, the duo of captain Gaikwad and coach Fleming are struggling to figure out how to get the team back on track.
