BAN to bat

Nigar Sultana has won the toss and opted to bat first. The Bangladeshi team must be hungry to post a win after a poor loss against the Indians in the first match.

Good start

India starts with Renuka Thakur and it was largely a good one. India needs to make sure they keep getting wickets. It is 14/0 in 1.4 overs.

Out

And a wicket comes Deepti’s way in the very first over. Opener Dilara Akter is out. But Harmanpreet Kaur drops a sitter. Murshida Khatun here. It is 26/1 after 3 overs.

Match resumes

After 14 overs the score has now moved to 88/5. Bangladesh would be looking for 130 at least, or they won’t be able to challenge the Indians.

Bangladesh slowing down

Only three overs are left in the innings, and Bangladesh are moving at snail’s pace. It is 112/6 in 17.4 overs.

Three wickets

And out of now here, the Bangladeshi team has lost three quick wickets. A run out and two wickets to Radha Yadav mean, Bangladesh are 119/9.

All out

On the last ball of the innings, the Bangladeshi team has been dismissed for 119, as Pooja Vastrakar claims the wicket of Trisna. India need 120 to win.

Second Innings

There you go. Shifali Verma is out for a golden duck here. Nigar Sultana picks up the wicket, as India is in early trouble at 1/1.

India cruising

Dayalan Hemlatha is going bonkers here. She has scored 41 from 24 here already. It is 47/1 in 5.2 overs.

Rain stops play

Rain interrupts play yet again. India are 47/1 in 5.2 overs and need 73 runs in 88 balls.

India win!

India win by 19 runs after rain forces game to be abandoned. Harmanpreet Kaur and co. have now taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

India too good for Bangladesh?

Similar to the opening encounter, a low-scoring affair is expected. By modern T20 standards, a 140-150 score is considered low. But on the slow and sluggish pitches of Bangladesh, that score is above average. Only one batter scored with a strike rate of over 140 (Shafali Varma), while most struggled to get going.

But the bowlers will have a great time. 15 wickets fell in the first T20I, which were evenly split between pacers (8) and spinners (7). Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, and Marufa Akter took at least 2 wickets each, while spinners dominated the preceding’s in the middle overs.

Something similar can be expected on April 30, where we can see first-inning totals ranging from 120 to 150, and the chasing side will be expected to have some difficulty.
