‘Baarish ka Warm up’ Fans dejected after IND vs ENG World Cup Practice Match Washed Out

The IND vs ENG World Cup warm-up match was called off at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on September 30.

The IND vs ENG World Cup warm-up match got abandoned due to rain on Saturday. Being played in Guwahati, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to have a bat first against the defending champs England. However, the fans could only witness the toss as the rain played the spoilsport. Left angry, some of the fans blamed ICC to organize the WC during this time of the year. Some of them also predicted that the rain will continue to dampen the mood of the fans throughout the tournament.

India will face the Netherlands in next warm-up match

As mentioned above, the India vs England warm-up match was called off at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati today. The two-time former champions will play their second warm-up game against the Netherlands at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 3, before opening their campaign against Australia.

We gonna bat first. No particular reason, it’s very hot out there. Just want to make sure that our bowlers stay fresh and bowl under the lights which is not gonna be so taxing for the bowlers. Because we have been playing lot of cricket off late, so just want to make sure that we are looking after them. We just got to play good cricket, we played 7 or 8 games recently, we want to make sure that the guys stay fresh for the 8th of October. We are playing one of the top teams and everyone (in the team) is fit and ready to go,” Indian captain Rohit Sharma said at the toss.

Meanwhile, the Three Lions will face Bangladesh in their second warm-up match to be played on October 2. “To be in India ahead of what’s gonna be a really exciting World Cup, for us it is very much about getting out there and getting moving. We had a long travel to get there, we will be a bit cautious today. There is a lot of experience in our game, everything including this game is about preparing for that (World Cup opener against New Zealand) match. We have plenty of guys who played a lot of IPL cricket here in India and really excited about today. All the players are fit and ready to go.,” England captain Jos Buttler said earlier.
