Australia Playing XI vs IND: Starc & Maxwell out, Cummins fit for IND vs AUS 1st ODI

While Australian skipper Pat Cummins is fit to play in first ODI, pacer Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will not feature in the first game.

Asia Cup winners India will take on Australia in the first IND vs AUS ODI on Friday, September 22, at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The Men in Blue will be without their senior players for the first two ODIs. Meanwhile, Australia are battling few injuries and will also be without few key players. While Australian skipper Pat Cummins is fit to play in first ODI, pacer Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will not feature in the first game.

Australia’s injury woes ahead of IND vs AUS

Australia have been battling with injuries since the start of South Africa tour. While Cummins has confirmed that Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell are likely to feature later in the series, they still have few injury concerns.

Pacer Sean Abbott gave a scare after splitting the webbing between his fingers during SA tour but is now available for IND vs AUS 1st ODI. Nathan Ellis also sustained a groin strain in South Africa. Hardie will stay with the Australian side as cover for the three ODIs. However, one good news for the Men in Yellow is the return of Steve Smith. The veteran batter, who was nursing a tendon injury, is fit for the series.

  • In-form Marnus Labuschagne will continue to be part of Australia’s Playing XI.
  • Steve Smith is fit and will likely to feature at number 4 in IND vs AUS 1st ODI.
  • With Glenn Maxwell ruled out, Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green will be the two all-rounders.
  • Sean Abott is likely to feature in place of injured Mitchell Starc in IND vs AUS 1st ODI.
