Sophie Molineux will lead the Australia in Women's T20 World Cup 2026, while Lucy Hamilton has been included in place of Darcie Brown.

Australia women’s cricket team have unveiled their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday, becoming the latest side to do so. The marquee tournament, which will be held in England, is scheduled to commence from June 12 onwards. Sophie Molineux will lead the Women in Yellow, while the selectors have taken an unexpected decision to drop pacer Darcie Brown from the T20I setup.

Despite being a veteran who has featured in the previous two editions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Brown has been left out of the side. Instead, the selectors have decided to include Lucy Hamilton in her place. The left-arm pacer led the Australia U19 side in the T20 World Cup last year and then went on to make her debut for the senior side across formats later.

Apart from captain Sophie, Australia’s comprises of seasoned campaigners like Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Tahlia McGrath and Megan Schutt. Australia will be eyeing to add a seventh trophy to their cabinet, having won the T20 World Cup in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023. In 2024, they made it to the semi-finals but were knocked out, thereby failing to make it what would have been their second consecutive final.

Australia are slotted in Group 1 of the T20 World Cup, alongside South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. The side will take on South Africa in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener on June 13 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
