Ben McDermott stamped his authority and put in a show of class as Australia faced off against Sri Lanka in the 1st T20 in Sydney on Friday. Opening the batting with skipper Aaron Finch, McDermott held the innings together with a fine knock, dealing the Sri Lankan pacers and spinners with some authority.
The wicket-keeper has hit a purple patch in recent years and was comfortably the top scorer in the BBL this year, with two centuries during the league stage. On Friday, featuring the place of David Warner, McDermott scored his 1st international 50 for South Africa punishing the Sri Lankan attack and helping the hosts to a fighting 149.

McDermott is one of the 590 players shortlisted for the IPL 2022 auction and his batting + keeping skills could very well earn him a maiden IPL gig.
