Aus vs NZ: Inglis joins England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow in missing the T20 World Cup due to a golfing mishap. Bairstow slipped and fell last month while strolling on a golf course. However, there was a relief when a hand specialist confirmed that Inglis didn’t have any tendon injury, which means his recovery time will likely be weeks rather than months.

Having said that, Inglis is a talented player and has already shown glimpses of his potential. So far in his T20I career, he has scored 220 runs in 9 innings. His average and strike rate in this format are currently 27.5 and 141.03 respectively. Time and again, he has grabbed the headlines for his exploits in the Big Bash League. For the T20 World Cup, Inglis was Australia’s backup wicketkeeper, filling in for the regular wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, but the selectors would have the option of choosing all-rounder Cameron Green or seamer Nathan Ellis to fill the position. As far as the Aaron Finch-led side is concerned, then their form in the shortest format of the game has been topsy-turvy in the recent past. Australia lost their warm-up game against India despite being in a comfortable position during the match.
