Asia Cup 2023: Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has heavily criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi for his Asia Cup 2023 stance. The legendary all-rounder blasted Sethi for changing his stance continuously regarding the continental showpiece tournament. Afridi also opined that the Men in Green should go to India to compete in ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will take place in October and November.

It should be recalled that the BCCI had previously argued against sending Team India to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and continued to insist that the competition should be staged at a neutral location.

However, PCB is determined about holding the event on their soil, or at least a portion of it under ‘Hybrid Model’. But this week, Pakistan board chief Najam Sethi suggested that the Asia Cup can be held in England which has angry most former cricketers.

Due to their shared historical roots, Pakistan and India are renowned as arch-rivals, and cricket fans on both sides of the border eagerly look forward to their matchup.

This fixture is basically the backbone of the Asia Cup where the continent’s top teams clash with each other. Hence Najam Sethi is doing everything possible to make India play in Asia Cup 2023. He even suggested playing in England which has upset many including Shahid Afridi.

Afridi told Samaa TV, “Najam Sethi should understand that it’s a big responsibility being a chairman of PCB. That’s why he shouldn’t change his stance continuously. Sometimes he is saying to organise it somewhere, now he is saying about playing Asia Cup in England. I don’t get it. He doesn’t need to give interviews everywhere.”

Afridi also targeted Sethi’s old age and said the chairman should be someone who can take a stance and be of strong nerves.

“Why are they saying ‘we will not go India ‘ for World Cup 2023? Take it as a positive, cricket is happening, ask your players to go win the World Cup and tell them that the whole nation is with them. Winning WC in India would be a great triumph and a huge salp (on India),” Afridi added.

For the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and the Asia Cup 2023, the cricket governing bodies of India and Pakistan have forbade their teams from crossing international borders; however, the situation is different for other sports.
