’Ashwin should respond’: Ex-Pakistan star irked by Nathan Lyon’s ‘stupid’ claim on BGT whitewash

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon made a huge claim earlier this week, stating that the hosts would defeat India 5-0 in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali tore into Australian spinner Nathan Lyon over his ‘overconfident’ remarks of beating India 5-0 in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The veteran spinner made a huge claim, aiming to put an end to Australia’s BGT drought. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ali called Lyon’s statement stupid and claimed that Australia could defeat India only by words.

Nathan Lyon’s stupid statement on BGT irks Ali

In the past two series, India has dominated Australia. Such comments don’t suit cricketers. Ricky Ponting or former cricketers can make such statements. I request Ashwin to reply back and say that India will defeat Australia by 5-0,” Basit Ali said.
