England & Broad’s assault continued the next ball after the dropped catch with umpire call off DRS decision going to hit the stumps. The Australia captain was batting on zero. Steve Smith drop could have proven costly as he had scored 93 runs in the first innings. Luckily, he was caught out on 6 runs by a difficult catch from Buttler.

Earlier, Jos Buttler had dropped Marnus Labuschagne on scores of 23, 95 and 100. The latter’s ton helped England score a huge total in the first innings.

The 31-year-old faced criticism from all quarters after a horrid outing with the gloves in Adelaide. Australia greats Brett Lee and Shane Warne were shocked at Buttler’s error.
“I can’t believe Jos Buttler’s dropped that,” Lee said as quoted by Fox Sports.
Shane Warne added: “Just imagine how he was feeling after he took Harris and then the next ball – how quickly things can change in this game.”
