“He almost looks a natural,” former Australia part-time off-spinner Mark Waugh told Fox Cricket.
Former Leg-spinner Shane Warne, the second highest wicket-taker in Test cricket after off-spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan, praised Robinson for giving “a bit of loop” unlike other part-timers.
“He got some nice loop, didn’t bowl too fast and a little bit of turn,” Warne told Fox Cricket.
“Normally you’ll see a part-timer that’s not used to it try and fire it in. But it’s nice to see Ollie Robinson giving it a little bit of loop.
“It’s nice to have that versatility. We played with Colin Miller … you could give him the new rock with a bit of swing then he’d turn to spin,” he added.
As per data collected by CricViz, pacer generated 2.4 degrees of drift in his first over when compared to global finger-spinner average of 1.6.
CricViz analyst Ben Jones also pointed out that Robinson, who has earlier bowled 26 over of off-spin for his county side Sussex, generated 3.7 degrees of spin, almost one degree more than what Jack Leach (2.8) could do at The Gabba.

England had opted to play the ongoing pink-ball Test with a specialist spinner as Jack Leach was left out of the eleven after initially being named in the 12-man squad for the Adelaide Test.
Joe Root bowled a total of 20 overs in the first innings but could not take field after being hit in the abdomen during throw downs in the warm-up before play.
The visitors lost control on the match and the series further on Sunday. After getting bundled out for 236 in the first innings, the England have been asked to chase 468 runs to level the series 1-1.
