‘As long as Virat Kohli is in team we can’t win IPL trophy’ RCB fans’ meltdown goes viral

Kohli had an outstanding performance with the bat, with an unbeaten 83 runs from 59 balls, enabling his team to set a target of 183 runs

RCB are one of the only three teams to have never won the elusive IPL trophy in 16 years and Bengaluru’s star player, Virat Kohli, has now come under fire on social media from cricket fans who allege the batsman produced a sluggish and slow-paced innings during the RCB vs KKR IPL 2024 clash resulting in their loss.

Kohli exhibited an outstanding performance with the bat, with an unbeaten 83 runs from 59 balls, enabling his team to set a target of 183 runs for Kolkata to chase. Despite maintaining a commendable strike rate of 140.68, fans have questioned whether the renowned batsman should have displayed more aggression right from the outset.

Having won the toss and opted to bowl first, Kolkata put the onus of scoring on Kohli for Bengaluru. The early dismissal of Bengaluru’s captain, Faf du Plessis, for 8 runs off 6 balls increased the pressure on Kohli, prompting him to adopt a more cautious approach. Cameron Green, batting at No.3, forged a crucial 65-run partnership with Kohli, followed by a dynamic cameo from Glen Maxwell, who scored 28 runs off 19 balls. Following Bengaluru’s batting innings, social media platforms were inundated with posts criticizing Kohli’s innings with fans claiming Virat Kohli’s presence has been abstaining them from winning the IPL trophy in last 16 years.
