Royal Challengers Bengaluru has perhaps the biggest and the strongest fan network, when it comes to the IPL. The team has never lifted the trophy, but the supporters never lose the belief. Take for example, this year, the team has been consistently in the bottom half, but the belief of the fans is such, they believe RCB can do the unthinkable, and not only qualify for the playoffs, but also lift the trophy.
An ardent fan on social media gave a detailed, match-by-match scenario for RCB, as to how they can still make it. This not only involves the results for RCB, but other franchises all well. Starting with the LSG vs KKR match, the fan’s calculation showed that the latter had to win the match.
As for Monday’s MI vs SRH match, Mumbai Indians need to win. It further suggests that if the results go as per the calculation, RCB would end at 14 points, and on third place on the points table, with seven wins and seven losses. And the four teams making playoffs will be RR, KKR, RCB, and SRH.
Team Bounces Back to Form
After a sluggish start to the IPL 2024, where they had won only one match in eight played, they have turned around their campaign in the next three, by winning their rather convincingly. One of the biggest reasons for that has been the way their bowlers have shone. In their last encounter vs GT, Mohammed Siraj was exceptional and helped the team bundle out the opposition for only 147. In reply, RCB chased down the target in only 13.4 overs, that helped their NRR massively.
RCB Qualification Scenario
After 11 matches, the RCB qualification scenarios is pretty clear. The team needs to win their remaining three matches with a big margin, and hope that DC and LSG lose at least two of their respective matches. If Chennai also manages to lose one, then it is a bonus for RCB. But at the moment, realistically, a playoffs berth looks out of reach for them.
