KKR have only one league match remaining and the chances of them making it to the playoffs look quite weak.

In a major development for KKR, their star batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of IPL 2026, due to concussion and a fracture on his left hand, suffered during the MI encounter on May 20. Kolkata are due to play their last league match against DC soon, and would sorely miss their best player of the season, Raghuvanshi scored 422 runs in 13 matches, including 5 fifties.

Raghuvanshi’s collision with Varun Chakravarthy

The unfortunate incident happened after a collision with bowler Varun Chakravarthy in the MI encounter; Tilak Varma skied one in close proximity of the bowler, with Raghuvanshi too running for the catch. VC did catch is cleanly, but the collision meant, that the ball was eventually spined. Immediately after that, the 21-year-old went out of the park while Tejasvi Dahiya took over the keeping duties.

KKR went on to win that match and stayed alive in the competition. Now, in 13 matches, they have 13 points to their name, having lost 6 and won as many. A win here would take them to 15; thereafter they would have to hope that PBKS and RR lose their respective matches, so that Rahane-led team could go through.

It also remains to be seen, as to what combination would they go on, on May 24. They have the option of getting in all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, who is a decent finisher and there is seasoned Rahul Tripathi as well, who could do the job for them.

ICC concussion rule

Perhaps, if not for the hand fracture, Raghuvanshi still would have missed this match. The ICC rule on concussion mandates a stand-down period of 7 days, post the completion of which, can the player play again. The keeping duties now could fall on Finn Allen or Dahiya.
