Another IPL season is coming, and once again, Rohit Sharma will represent Mumbai Indians. After IPL 2024, there were doubts about his future with the team, as reports suggested that he might not be retained. Rumours spread about his desire to move out, but in the end, all of them turned out to be false. He will play for Mumbai Indians, although not as the captain, since Hardik Pandya is leading the team. In fact, Pandya led the camp in IPL 2024 as well.
From 2013 to 2023, it was the Rohit era, where he created countless memories for Mumbai Indians. Most importantly, he delivered five shining IPL trophies, making him one of the most successful IPL captains alongside MS Dhoni. Just as Dhoni did for CSK, Sharma did for MI.
However, before becoming the captain of Mumbai Indians, Rohit played under several captains in his early years. While many know about him playing under Hardik Pandya, are you aware of all the captains this legendary Indian opener played under in the IPL in total? Take a look at all the names and see when and under whom he played.

Hardik Pandya | Mumbai Indians | 2024 |
Rohit Sharma has played under six IPL captains, starting with VVS Laxman at the now-defunct Deccan Chargers as a young all-rounder, or to be specific, a batter who could bowl off-spin. He also played under Adam Gilchrist, winning the 2009 title. After moving to the Mumbai Indians, he was first led by Sachin Tendulkar, followed by Harbhajan Singh. In 2013, Ricky Ponting started as captain but handed over the role mid-season, leading to Rohit’s captaincy stint, which saw five IPL titles. In 2024, Hardik Pandya took over, but MI finished 10th that season.
