Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane had yet another miserable outing in the Ranji Trophy 2024 game against Uttar Pradesh on Friday

Rahane flops yet again in MUM vs UP Ranji game

UP’s Ankit Rajpoot got rid of Rahane in the 29th over in what was the midst of Mumbai’s top-order collapse. Despite playing out 28 deliveries before his dismissal, the Mumbai skipper could not sustain himself at the crease. Only one boundary was scored by Rahane in his short stay at the centre.

The star batter has not tasted success in his recent outings and is riding on the back of having scored two consecutive ducks. Rahane’s grim form will only compound his concerns as he searches for a path make his return to the India side. He last played for India in Test match against West Indies in Port of Spain in July last year, where he scored 8 runs off 36 balls.

Mumbai’s collapse began with the departure of opener Jay Bista as Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered the first breakthrough for UP. Fellow opener Bhupen Lalwani was the next to depart after he was clean bowled by Aaqib Khan. Rahane, Suved Parkar and Shivam Dube were the next three to walk back to the pavilion as Mumbai were 79/5 at lunch break.
