Aamer Jamal, a former taxi driver in Australia is now tormenting their batsmen

Aamer Jamal picked six wickets in the first innings of Australia vs Pakistan first Test, including that of centurion David Warner.

Debutant fast bowler Aamer Jamal is undoubtedly the performance of the match for Pakistan, in the first Test against Australia at Perth. Jamal picked up six wickets in his first Test innings after he was picked in the team ahead of Naseem Shah, who is nursing an injury.

Talking to 7Cricket during the match, Jamal revealed his struggle story to the world, and how he worked as a taxi driver in Australia, before making it to the Pakistani team. He also went to share how despite playing U-19 cricket in Pakistan, he could not make it to the first-class level.

“When I played for Pakistan U-19, I couldn’t make it to the first-class division for four years. It was then I decided to play a couple of games here and I played for Hawkesbury,” Jamal said.

“After playing for 4-5 months the Pakistan U-23 team was going for a tour, but once again, I couldn’t get a chance to play. I wasn’t financially very strong, so that was when I started driving a taxi in Australia.”

Despite shuttling between driving a taxi and cricket, Jamal somehow managed to make it big. He also mentioned how, when people asked him to stop playing, he never paid heed. “A lot of people wanted me to stop playing cricket. They said there was no hope. But I said, there is always hope,” Jamal added.
