‘A mystery X-factor spinner’ AB de Villiers points out RCB’s missing link

Talking about the RCB side in a live session on his YouTube channel, De Villiers expressed his desire about RCB bringing Rashid Khan in on a trade deal

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will once again vie for their maiden Indian Premier League title when they take the field in IPL 2024. Ahead of the start of the tournament, former RCB batter and South Africa captain AB de Villers has aired his view on the current RCB team, saying the team lacks a World Class spinner like Rashid Khan who can be a game changer. De Villiers feels the RCB team is in need of a ‘mystery spinner’ after letting Wanindu Hasaranga leave ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction.

AB de Villiers knows a thing or two about the RCB team, having played for the franchise for 11 seasons before calling it a day. Talking about the RCB side in a live session on his YouTube channel, De Villiers expressed his desire about RCB bringing Rashid Khan in on a trade deal. Although De Villiers acknowledged the fact that Gujarat Titans will not be interested in trading their ace spinner.

“One or two incredible spinners I would say, um X factor. Spinners. I think of guys like we need a leg spinner like Rashid Khan. Perhaps, Uh Oh, yeah. We got rid of Yuzvendra Chahal not long ago. We missed him over the last few years, I think. And I think that’s still the missing link, So we’ll see it. They also released Wanindu Hasaranga after last season,” Ab de Villiers said.

“So I don’t know what the plans are there. Yes. There are some spinners there. I do think we miss the mystery X-factor spinner that gets you four or five wickets like Rashid Khan. Unfortunately, no one could get hold of him because he is pretty much cement. Very much cemented in that GT side. But hopefully, in the future, you know. So I should get to try to get him over, maybe do a trade. I don’t think Rashid Khan is tradable at the moment, though,” he added.
